Electrical Troubleshooting Training Software

Simulations are a great way to learn a skill - especially skills performed in a hazardous environment with no room for error. Pilots use simulations to learn to fly, Nuclear Operators use simulations to learn to operate nuclear power stations. Now you can use simulations to safely learn to troubleshoot electrical circuits.

Simutech has designed a series of simulation-based training programs that make the learning challenging, interesting, and fun! There is also no doubt that the learning will be effective. This series of simulation-based, electrical training programs are winners of several awards, including training excellence awards. They are ideal for learning proven techniques to troubleshoot electrical circuits and applying them in a very realistic simulation environment.

Troubleshooting Skills Series

The Troubleshooting Skills Series is designed to develop the skills required to troubleshoot electrical circuits and equipment. It covers basic troubleshooting techniques and then builds on these techniques by providing a series of troubleshooting simulations to develop and practice troubleshooting skills.

Learn more: Troubleshooting Skills Series

The Troubleshooting Skills Series consists of the three Troubleshooting programs below. Each program is also available for individual purchase.

  • Troubleshooting - Basic Techniques (TBT)
This program introduces you to the Systematic 5 Step Troubleshooting Approach, Troubleshooting Safety, and Basic Testing Techniques. This simulation allows you to operate a lighting circuit, take meter readings, remove wires, replace components, and perform other troubleshooting activities. Learn more...
  • Troubleshooting - Control Circuits (TCC)
Building on Troubleshooting - Basic Techniques, this program teaches troubleshooting control circuits. You will troubleshoot a highly realistic circuit simulation of an electric door lock, containing typical control circuit components such as relays, switches, lights, pushbuttons, and solenoids. Learn more...
  • Troubleshooting - Motor Controls (TMC)
Utilizing a reversing motor control circuit for an industrial garage door, you will learn to troubleshoot motor controls. You will gain experience working with limit switches, three phase induction motors, reversing motor starters with overloads, push buttons, step down transformers, and safety switches. Learn more...

Industrial Control System Simulations

With our Industrial Control System Simulations you can develop advanced troubleshooting skills and learn techniques required to troubleshoot and repair Industrial Control Systems. These advanced troubleshooting simulations model complex Industrial Control Systems and contain faults that can be extremely challenging.

  • Learning Modules: Included in these programs are several learning modules covering such things as troubleshooting safety, a systematic approach for troubleshooting electrical circuits, and testing techniques.
  • Highly realistic simulations: These programs contain highly realistic simulations of electrical circuits where you can operate the equipment, take meter readings, remove wires, replace components, etc.
  • Numerous Faults: Each program has many faults available to be solved.
  • Activity Monitoring: The simulations monitor your activities and notify you if you make errors, such as safety errors, and provide tips to help improve your troubleshooting approach.
  • Feedback: The simulations provide feedback on your approach and identify areas where improvement is required.
  • Reporting: Reports are available to the user as well as the Supervisor or Instructor.

Who Can Use These Programs back to top

These programs can be used by many different people for many different purposes.

Supervisors
These programs are ideal for use in Industry and Business, in on-site training programs or as refresher training to keep staff skills sharp. From downtime of equipment, to the costs of replacement parts, to repeat business, how well your staff troubleshoots affects your bottom line.

For more information about how these programs can be used in Industry and Business please view our Tips for Supervisors.

Instructors
These simulations are great tools for Educational Organizations. They can be used in an existing program or lab, or programs can be developed around them. Two of the most important elements of troubleshooting training are hands-on practice and feedback, allowing students to develop their skills.

View our Tips for Instructors for more information about using these programs as part of your course.

These programs can even be used with a Distance Education Program. They can provide that all important hands on practice with detailed results of the users progress able to be emailed to the instructor.

See How to use for Distance Learning for more information.

Tradespersons
Practicing electrical troubleshooting can be difficult, and like most skills, troubleshooting requires practice to stay sharp. Simulation-based programs are a great way to maintain and hone your troubleshooting skills without having to wait for equipment failures. You can practice troubleshooting a variety of faults on these realistic simulations whenever it is suitable for you.

For more information please see hone your electrical troubleshooting skills.

Apprentices and Students
Learning how to troubleshoot requires learning a systematic approach, understanding the tools, and getting lots of hands-on practice. Our troubleshooting programs are great tools to learn to safely troubleshoot realistic faults on realistic circuits. You will learn a systematic troubleshooting approach and then be able to practice on dozens of faults.
