Customer Feedback
The Troubleshooting Skills software is used by organizations and individuals around the globe. Community colleges use it in their electrical training programs; industries use it as part of their training programs as well as skill upgrading for trades persons; and individuals use it for self study to upgrade their electrical troubleshooting skills.
Here is what some of our customers are saying:
This software has definitely helped us achieve our goal of upgrading electrical trouble-shooting skills for both our electrical and mechanical apprentices. In fact, it has helped our experienced technicians improve their electrical skills.
The benefits were seen immediately...an apprentice who completed the training was able to quickly find and clear a ground in a circuit that had been broken for two days. This was after numerous unsuccessful attempts by a "qualified" craftsman without the software training. We are now in the process of scheduling all of our technicians for this training on a recurring basis.

Without exception, everyone that has seen [Troubleshooting] Electrical Circuits has been impressed...it is an excellent software package.

Your products have certainly played a part in our success. I have had many graduates stop by and talk about how their learned troubleshooting skills have helped them get hired or get promoted.
Jim R., Electrical Program Director, Vatterott College
I just purchased your V3 edition and love it. I have read on your site about the new FPS 3000 and will most likely purchase it in the near future. I intend to visit your site often in search of material for my personal development and will certainly recommend your products to anyone who may inquire about them.

Thank you for your immediate response and support in such short notice. We really appreciate it. I've been using the software for 3 semesters and I have no problems in using it in my class. My students find it difficult at first but as they progress in using it, they find the software friendly, they have fun and want more challenging faults. I Hope you continue develop the software because it is very useful for us instructors in our class. Again, thank you very much.
Cirilo R., Instructor, College of Micronesia
It [Troubleshooting - Motor Controls] is one of the best educational software I have used to date. I especially like the tracking system and would like to see it applied to other software. It really helped me to see how the students were progressing and what key areas I needed to improve my delivery on. All in all a truly exceptional product.
Olden C., New Brunswick Community College
Just wanted to say thanks again your solution fixed the problem. I really enjoy this program and find it very educational.

I love the TMC program. It really helps my students improve their troubleshooting skills...TMC does a great job at teaching troubleshooting fundamentals. When my students are troubleshooting my electrically live motor control trainers I have to be on my toes so they don't kill themselves. With TMC I don't have to worry if they get ZAPPED and I can have over a dozen of them troubleshooting at the same time. I can't do that with my real trainers.

When the package arrived and after I finished installing it on my computer, it was hard not to want to stay and work through all of the faults right there and then, however my wife managed to persuade me to limit my hours. My congratulations and thanks to you and the team for the software and programming involved in producing these training packages. They are brilliant. Easy to use, well explained, very educational, highly entertaining, challenging and also slightly addictive. My thanks to all who had a hand in developing this series of programs and filling a gap which sadly still exists today in the untaught and poorly learnt art of trouble shooting and fault finding. Anyway, enough of the praise, much more of it and you will start to relax and lower your standards and not produce such good work.
Kris T.
Thank you very much for helping me with my problem, your QUICK response & FRIENDLY manner is why I like doing business with Simutech!
Phil S.
Having completed this series myself, this is one of the best tools I've ever seen. It's an extremely realistic way to learn and refine your troubleshooting skills without the expense, mistakes, and pressure from the employer. I would recommend this software for everyone and anyone, both novice and advanced. With plenty of exercises, this software can be gone through multiple times to improve your skills and find better, more efficient ways to troubleshoot electrical problems. I like the function of being able to print a report to show the amount of time, attempts, and success of each exercise. The reports provide a great way to compare your results when you repeat the exercises a second time. Another benefit is having the time to analyze your initial problem solving techniques and figure out what steps you should have taken. Therefore learning from experience and changing the way you think about finding a solution to the problem.

The techniques I have developed have allowed me to achieve over 99% accuracy in my HVAC testing (so far), and is allowing me to take the NATE exam well before the required two year "on the job" waiting period.

Here's a little bit of feed back on your Troubleshooting Software. First off, the guys here love the programs. A couple of them even use it on their lunch time!
Mark W., Conoco Phillips
It had some challenging faults that actually helped me improve my troubleshooting skills which I have since been able to apply on my current job as an industrial electrician. For learning and value it was excellent.

Having 15 years experience, dual trade Electrician and Instrument Tech, 8 1/2 years in Mining & heavy industry, 6 1/2 years manufacturing and food processing & medium industry, I can say that there is nothing else like your software out there in the market or educational sector. To build something myself to practice and learn on is impractical because of the expense and also because I built it and already know the circuit inside out, nothing learnt or gained. Thanks for the extra fault packs, I am looking forward to the new challenges that they will present. I am also looking for to the new titles that you are developing and I will eagerly await their arrival.
Kris T.
The software is working out great. I've jumped through the hoops to demonstrate that it's worth making sure that our new maintenance people go through the programs and now it's going to be a mandatory part of their training. I've seen the difference in the few people I've run through. The more practice I can get these new troubleshooters, the better.
Dana M.
Let me first say how great your program is. A great way to hone my troubleshooting skills. Some people will get up in the morning and have a coffee and play a game of solitaire on the computer. Myself, even though I have finished all three programs, I still try to solve one or two in the morning with my coffee. Just waiting for a new series to be released, is this going to happen? If so, when?
Tony W.
I didn't expect to get my codes until tomorrow...Thanks! I have activated my program and I am enjoying it immensely already. I've been showing the demo portion to my shipmates and several are definitely interested in getting the program as well. Thanks again!
Eric C.
My first and lasting impression of your e-learning software is that it's outstanding. It's fun, realistic, and informative. I believe it's a real world approach to training without the injuries, equipment damage, and costs that could result from initial OJT. I can see this type of simulation being used in a variety of scenarios from troubleshooting an automobile to operating a nuclear power plant. Thank you for the test drive!
Chris C.
Are you planning any new Troubleshooting Courses? I think that you're onto a good thing here. As an Industrial Electrician/Technician, I try to build and repair machinery & installs so that they don't have to be repaired. I therefore, as the years go by, am being afforded fewer chances to troubleshoot. Programs like yours definitely help sharpen my skills in a discipline that I feel is as much art as it is science. I thank you for the obvious effort you've put into these programs.
Greg G.
Thank-you, I am very impressed with this software.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank your company for developing this program. We at Domtar have multiple machines for cutting paper, all are pretty elaborate electrically. Your program has given my employees a much better understanding of what it takes to troubleshoot a problem and has reduced downtime as a result. The fact that they can use the program at their leisure keeps them sharp for when the skill is actually needed. This program has been worth its weight in gold.
Sam A., Plant Manager, Domtar
I work in a water purification plant so fluid processing is what we do (on a much larger scale of course). The behavior of this virtual system and the logic of the simulation are very, very realistic (and little touches like the wire nuts and audio just add to the realism). This program [FPS 3000] was really worth waiting for, not only because it's more challenging and similar to the equipment that I have at work, but because of the refinements like the top menu bar and the highlighting of meter connection points. I have only scratched the surface of this product but I just know the deeper I get into it the better it's going to get. Right now, no one produces electrical training/educational products that come close to having the bang for the buck that you guys do.and I'm speaking of any type of media. And this program is hands down the best electrical training product I've ever seen.
Joe
I bought the three troubleshooting programs to use and learn. They are very good programs. I thought it would be a great tool to use to just sharpen up my skills a little. I was extremely surprised that there were problems that I really had to concentrate on and I have to admit, some of them took a few tries before I got it right.
Daniel F.
I believe it has been over a year since I purchased the three troubleshooting programs and the additional faults. I find them to be more valuable as time goes on. What I have been able to "see" concerning HVAC controls and electrical circuits compared to those with similar experience never ceases to amaze me.
Thank you for your time and your products. In the past year, I have found and used simulation and troubleshooting programs relating to HVAC directly. Some are great, some are good, and some are not so good. Your programs are always the ones that I use for the benchmark as to what is possible. I also don't think a week goes by that I do not verbally reference something I learned from your programs to someone I am working with or helping out. In fact, I did again just this morning when wiring up a Heat Pump simulator that I am building.
I am looking forward to your next program. As I have said before, I am very happy with your programs from an operational and a learning standpoint. I don't think I could ask for anything more. Thank you again.
Rich M.
I must say your software is phenomenal! I did end up buying troubleshooting motor circuits from you guys and it has helped me out tremendously not only in electrical but other troubleshooting aspects of my job. I recommend this for any maintenance person or anyone in a related field.
Shaun D.
Your software was great, I was able to check my troubleshooting skills, and found out some weaknesses. The sound was so realistic I almost felt I was electrocuted. Thanks.
Wilfredo J.
Thanks again. I look forward to my company purchasing your products. I still believe they are a valuable, safe, and effective way for new folks as well as veterans to sharpen their skills.
