2009 Canadian Awards for Training Excellence

Presented by The Canadian Society for Training and Development (CSTD), the Canadian Awards for Training Excellence (CATE) honour exceptional and innovative Canadian-developed learning products and programs.

The GOLD Award for External eLearning Program recognizes that the Troubleshooting Industrial Controls software meets best practice learning principles and demonstrates excellence in originality, instructional design, evaluation strategy, communication style, packaging and overall value.

CSTD is Canada's national organization dedicated to the profession of training, workplace learning, and human resources development. With over 1600 members, CSTD represents learning and performance professionals in both the public and private sectors. CSTD provides its members with ongoing opportunities to share best practices, improve on-the-job performance, and foster personal and professional growth.

2003 Otter Awards

The Best External E-Learning Program award went to Simutech Multimedia's "Electrical Troubleshooting Skills Series". This series of programs are designed so that the learner will develop a skilled, systematic approach to troubleshooting electrical circuits. This is accomplished through the use of highly interactive and realistic simulations for the learner to practice their skills.

The Canadian Society for Training and Development (CSTD) Otter Awards recognize exemplary programs and products. The winning training programs and products are selected based on their originality, training design, packaging, communication style, integrated evaluation strategy, and overall value to end users.

2003 Otter Awards

The submission by Hydro One for the program Electrical Safety Awareness, which was developed in conjunction with Simutech Multimedia, won the award for the Best Internal E-Learning Program. This is a multimedia rich program that teaches the hazards of electricity.

In 1999 Click2Learn held an international contest for the best applications developed using Click2Learn authoring products.

The Criteria:

• User interface usability (design, graphic layout, aesthetics)
• Effectiveness (is the application suitable for the task?)
• Technical challenge (special interactivity)
• Media quality (animation, sounds, graphics and videos)

1998 Asymetrix Interactive Awards

In 1998 Asymetrix held an international contest for the best applications developed using Asymetrix authoring products.

The Criteria:

• User interface usability (design, graphic layout, aesthetics)
• Effectiveness (is the application suitable for the task?)
• Technical challenge (special interactivity)
• Media quality (animation, sounds, graphics and videos)
